Congratulations, Mrs. Dana Troth, for being selected as the 2023-2024 FMSD Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Troth is a veteran teacher with 22.5 years of educational experience, all of which have been served at Forest Elementary School. She is a graduate of Mississippi State University. She is married to Bradley, and they are parents of Raymond, Sarah, and Abigail. When asked what she considers to be the best part of her job, she responds, "It's the 'aha' moments when a child's face lights up once they understand a difficult mathematical concept." Thank you, Mrs. Troth, for your dedication to providing a quality education for the students of FMSD!

HMS PBIS Fall-o-Ween Festival: It's Fall-o-Ween time!!! HMS will host a Fall-o-Ween Festival on Tuesday, October 31st to celebrate students who have exhibited PAWsitive behavior! Students must have 200 Bearcat (PBIS) Points to participate. all costumes must follow the handbook guidelines. Also, no knives, play guns, or other inappropriate objects. Keep your friends close and your FRIES closer! HMS will serve up HOT FRIES during 7th period on Thursday, October 26th. Students can place their orders as early as Tuesday, October 24th. The deadline to order fries will be Wednesday, October 25th at 2:55 p.m. For $4, students will receive a basket of fries and their choice of cheese and/or ketchup.
Rivalry Week, is that you!?! With great anticipation, we are expecting a sell-out crowd for the Battle of the Golden Chicken Game vs Morton High School this Thursday, October 26th!!! Pre-sale tickets are $6 and are available at both Forest High School and Morton High School. If you would like to purchase pre-sale tickets, you can do so by going to either school's front office through Thursday, October 26, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets must be presented at Thursday's game to enter.

FHS Senior & Rivalry Week: This week, FHS students have dress-out days to crank up that Bearcat Spirit for the Battle of the Golden Chicken Game vs Morton High School!!! FHS will also be celebrating the senior class on Wednesday for College Application Day & the Senior College and Career Fair from 8:00 - 10:30 a.m. Remember, this week's football game is scheduled for Thursday, October 26th!

FHS Lady Cats are ready for some BEARCAT BASKETBALL!!!
Week 8 Players of the Week versus NE Jones are Greg Keeton and Sean Allen. On the defense, Keeton had 8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, a 68-yard touchdown from an interception, and 1 rushing touchdown. On the offense, Allen had 11 carries for 101 yards and 1 touchdown. Congratulations, Greg and Sean!
Week 7 Players of the Week versus Union are Lodaaejeion Williams and Antarral Pinkston. On the defense, Williams had 4 tackles, 1 interception, and 2 pass break-ups. On the offense, Pinkston had 6 catches for 110 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 rushes for 10 yards, and a 2-point conversion. Congratulations, Lodaaejeion and Antarral!
The FHS Bearcat Soccer Teams extends special thanks to the Trinity Mission Center for the invitation to the Blessing of the Soccer Teams service. The service and message was wonderful, and the food was delicious!

The MHSAA 4A State Marching Band Championship is fast approaching! The Pride of Forest Marching Band students have earned the opportunity to participate in the championship for the first time in Class 4A this Saturday, October 28, 2023. All parents, friends, family, and alumni are encouraged to attend and support. The event will take place at the Pirate Stadium of Pearl High School, and performance time is 2:00 p.m. Spectator parking will be at Hinds Community College campus next to Pearl High School, so please arrive early to allow time to walk to the stadium. Admission is $15.00. Please see the attachment for more details.

FMSD Professional Development Day: Teachers and staff began Term 2 with greetings from Superintendent Nelson, inspiring everyone to remember the importance of providing a quality education to the students who attend Forest Municipal School District. Teachers and staff also participated in sessions on topics that included, but were not limited to, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Audio Enhancement, Strengthening Instructional Practices, Diving Into Data, and Classroom Management. Robert John Meehan says, "The most valuable resource that all teachers have is each other. Without collaboration our growth is limited to our own perspectives." FMSD is learning and growing together!
