Bearcats Promote Literacy: Reading, Role Models, and Real Impact! Forest High School athletes Ja’darion Ware, Ty Chambers, and Dorcas De Leon recently spent time reading to Ms. Tanya Wash’s Kindergarten class at Forest Elementary. These student-athletes showed what it means to lead on and off the field! As a special thank you to Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. – Upsilon Kappa Sigma Chapter for providing snacks. Join us in congratulating two of our outstanding Forest High School students, Nyah Davis and Kimberly Bello Ramirez, for serving on the State Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council! At their final meeting of the school year, Nyah and Kimberly had the opportunity to share a special moment with our new State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Lance Evans. The council exists to give Mississippi students a platform to share diverse perspectives directly with the State Superintendent. Nyah and Kimberly remained active members throughout the year—attending meetings, coming prepared, participating in group projects, and sharing their voices with respect, confidence, and purpose. We are incredibly proud of these student leaders for representing the Forest Municipal School District with excellence!

Spring Break 2025 is Here! All Forest Municipal School District campuses and offices will be closed March 10-14, 2025 for Spring Break. We hope our students, teachers, and staff enjoy a well-deserved break filled with rest, fun, and relaxation. Support the FHS Baseball Team Tuesday as they host Columbia and Thursday as they travel to Columbia. Both games will begin at 4:30p.m. Go BEARCATS! Honoring the Legacy of Mrs. Earline Webb Williams In honor of National Black History Month, the Forest Municipal School District would like to to honor the memory of Mrs. Earline Webb Williams, a member of the historic 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion—affectionately known as “The Six Triple Eight.” This pioneering unit was the first and only group of African-American female soldiers tasked with processing and handling millions of pieces of mail during World War II, ensuring that the morale of American soldiers remained high with the rallying motto, “Low mail, low morale.” Her service not only contributed significantly to the war effort but also paved the way for future generations of women and people of color in the armed forces. Today, her inspiring story has reached new audiences through the Tyler Perry Netflix film 6888, reminding us of the strength, dedication, and resilience of those who served. Adding a deeply personal note to her enduring legacy, Mrs. Williams is also the grandmother of Simone Niang, one of our very own teacher assistants at Forest Elementary School. Her legacy is a beacon of hope and an enduring reminder of the power of perseverance and dedication.

This past Saturday, February 15th, was National School Resource Officer Day, and we want to express our heartfelt appreciation for Officer Coshune Bingham and the dedication he brings to our district every day! "The safety of our schools is the foundation for student success. A secure environment allows children to learn, grow, and thrive." – Unknown Officer Bingham plays a crucial role in keeping Forest Municipal School District safe—serving at all three campuses (elementary, middle, and high school), central office, and athletic events after school hours. In Officer Bingham's own words: "My goal each day is to ensure a safe and supportive environment where students can focus on learning, teachers can teach, and families have peace of mind knowing their children are protected. What I love most about being a School Resource Officer is the opportunity to build positive relationships with students in a challenging world. I’m able to proactively address potential safety issues, maintain a secure school environment, and witness the success of students—especially those who face significant challenges—as they achieve milestones like graduation and other accomplishments in life." Because freezing temperatures mixed with precipitation could make roads unsafe, we are taking precautions and being mindful of Governor Tate Reeves' declaration of emergency. We are aware that weather can shift, but after speaking with Emergency Management, we believe this is the best decision for the safety of staff and students.
