The National Association of School Resource Officers encourages schools and communities to recognize the valuable work of their school resource officers (SROs) during National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day on February 15 of every year, and we want to take a moment to give a special shout-out to our outstanding SROs.
Chief Coshune Bingham and Officer Jaylon Lofton go above and beyond each day to ensure the safety, security and well-being of our students and staff. Their presence on our campuses provides not only protection, but mentorship, guidance and positive relationships that make a lasting impact.

The Forest Municipal School District extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Dave Richey (1956–2026), a retired educator who served students in our district for a portion of his teaching career.
Mr. Richey’s dedication to education and the impact he made during his time in Forest will be remembered by colleagues, students, and members of our school community. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends, and all who are mourning his loss.

IMPORTANT SAFETY UPDATE
A short time ago, Forest High School and Forest Elementary School were placed on a precautionary lockdown as part of our standard safety protocols.
We want to assure our parents and community that all students and staff are safe and teaching and learning has resumed.
We appreciate the quick response of our staff and the cooperation of our students, along with the support of our School Resource Officers and local law enforcement (Forest Police Department and Scott County Sheriff Department). Student safety remains our top priority.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to prioritize the well-being of our school community.
