The athletics department has introduced a new program called “Dinner on the Bearcats.” At select home ball games, gift cards from local restaurants will be raffled off. We will raffle off a $20 gift card to Hibachi Express at tonight’s volleyball game. Let’s sell out our gym, and be sure to hold on to your ticket stubs!

HMS Optimistic Student of the Month - Marcos Morales Dominguez, an 8th grader at HMS, was chosen as HMS's Student Spotlight of the Month.  Marcos's can-do attitude, his commitment to academic excellence, and his willingness to lead and assist his peers has made him a face of student leadership at HMS.  Congratulations, Marcos!
HMS Optimistic Staff of the Month:  Mr. Marty Moore, an HMS staff member, was recognized as the Spotlight Staff Member of the Month for August.  Mr. Moore was chosen because of his optimistic approach to his duties and the daily challenges of the normal school day.  Each day, Mr. Marty shows up with a smile on his face, eager to engage and support our students, faculty, and staff. Congrats, Mr. Marty!

Adjourning their second successful meeting of the new school year, the Forest High School H.E.L.P. Club is busy with planning for FMSD's first Family Fiesta. The club is open to students who have exited the English Learners (EL) program by showing proficiency in Spanish and English according to the LAS Links state exam. The high school's H.E.L.P. Club currently consists of 24 members. We would also like to say, "Thank You," to our H.E.L.P. Club sponsors as you are helping these students increase their leadership and communication skills.

The FMSD Technology Department will be working diligently to prepare new Chromebooks for dissemination. Our school district is thankful for the opportunity to provide students with one-to-one Chromebook accessibility at school and home. Each school site will communicate their distribution process with parents/guardians in the near future.
