Week 7 Players of the Week versus Union are Lodaaejeion Williams and Antarral Pinkston. On the defense, Williams had 4 tackles, 1 interception, and 2 pass break-ups. On the offense, Pinkston had 6 catches for 110 yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 rushes for 10 yards, and a 2-point conversion. Congratulations, Lodaaejeion and Antarral!

The FHS Bearcat Soccer Teams extends special thanks to the Trinity Mission Center for the invitation to the Blessing of the Soccer Teams service. The service and message was wonderful, and the food was delicious!

The MHSAA 4A State Marching Band Championship is fast approaching! The Pride of Forest Marching Band students have earned the opportunity to participate in the championship for the first time in Class 4A this Saturday, October 28, 2023. All parents, friends, family, and alumni are encouraged to attend and support. The event will take place at the Pirate Stadium of Pearl High School, and performance time is 2:00 p.m. Spectator parking will be at Hinds Community College campus next to Pearl High School, so please arrive early to allow time to walk to the stadium. Admission is $15.00. Please see the attachment for more details.

FMSD Professional Development Day: Teachers and staff began Term 2 with greetings from Superintendent Nelson, inspiring everyone to remember the importance of providing a quality education to the students who attend Forest Municipal School District. Teachers and staff also participated in sessions on topics that included, but were not limited to, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Audio Enhancement, Strengthening Instructional Practices, Diving Into Data, and Classroom Management. Robert John Meehan says, "The most valuable resource that all teachers have is each other. Without collaboration our growth is limited to our own perspectives." FMSD is learning and growing together!

FHS Lady Bearcat Volleyball: Support the Lady Bearcat Volleyball Team this week as they continue in district play today, September 19th at Northeast Jones and Thursday, September 21st in a home game against rival, Morton!

Farm Bureau Players of the Week: Congratulations to Latrell Pace and Miguel Matias. Pace plays defense for the Bearcats and had 11 total tackles, 3 of which were for a loss. Matias is the team's kicker. He had 2 points after touchdowns out of 3 attempts and kicked two field goals, 38 and 23 yards. Way to go, guys!!!

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated nationwide September 15th through October 15th. The EL (English Learner) Department at FES is kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month by allowing students to create Hispanic Americans Fact Books. These facts are also shared every morning in English and Spanish during morning announcements. Some students are also celebrating by wearing attire that represents the Hispanic culture.
