Dr. Karen Norwood joined the staff at Forest Municipal School District July 2019 as the first female superintendent in the history of Forest, MS. Dr. Norwood attended Ole Miss where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Counseling Psychology Degree. She then attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she graduated with a Specialist degree and then her Doctoral degree in Educational Administration with an emphasis on the School Superintendency. She graduated from the Nissan National Superintendents Academy and the Mississippi School Boards Association Superintendents Leadership Academy. She moved to Forest from Biloxi Public Schools, an A-rated school district, where she was the Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the last 13 years. Dr. Norwood was in charge of Accreditation, Accountability, Assessment, Curriculum and all Secondary Programs grades 6-12 and supervised a staff of 650 teachers and staff members. Dr. Norwood is a published author and speaker at many educational conferences. She has two daughters who she enjoys spending time and traveling with in her spare time.
