Counselor’s Corner for December - COMPASSION
Compassion means caring about others, understanding how they feel, and wanting to help when someone is having a hard time.
It’s noticing when a friend is sad and offering a kind word, or helping someone who drops their books, or even just listening when someone needs to talk.
Compassion is kindness in action!
📚 What Students Will Be Learning This Month
Throughout December, students will take part in lessons and activities that help them:
- Recognize feelings in themselves and others
- Practice empathy—imagining how someone else might be feeling
- Use kind words and actions to support classmates
- Work together to solve problems peacefully
- Spread compassion in the classroom, at home, and in the community
Teachers will be sharing stories, leading discussions, and encouraging students to notice moments when compassion can make a difference.
🤝 Schoolwide Compassion Challenge
Students are encouraged to bring a can of food to donate to our local Scott County Crisis Center in Forest to help families in need throughout this holiday season. We will be collecting cans of food throughout the month of December at Forest Elementary School.
🌟 Why Compassion Matters
Compassion helps our school become a place where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued. When we practice compassion, we learn to build strong relationships and create a positive community for all.
We’re excited to see how our students show compassion throughout December. Thank you for encouraging these meaningful conversations at home!
Let’s practice showing compassion this month, Bearcats!
