At Forest Elementary, we believe character development is just as important as academics. Each month, we focus on a character word to guide our students in building strong values and life skills. For the month of October, our word is Kindness.
What is Kindness?
Kindness means showing care, respect, and compassion through our words and actions. It’s about treating others the way we would like to be treated and making choices that help our school community feel safe and welcoming.
Why Kindness Matters
Creates a positive classroom environment.
Helps students build empathy and friendships.
Promotes respect and responsibility.
Reminds us that small acts can make a big difference.
How We’re Practicing Kindness at School
Recognizing students with “Caught Being Good” awards for showing kindness.
Sharing stories and activities that highlight kindness in action.
Encouraging students to use kind words, include others, and lend a helping hand.
How Families Can Reinforce Kindness at Home
Share daily kindness moments: ask, “How were you kind today?”
Model kindness in everyday interactions.
Read books together that celebrate kindness.
Practice gratitude by saying thank you often.
Together, we can inspire our Bearcats to build a culture of kindness that reaches far beyond the classroom. Thank you for partnering with us to help our students grow into caring and compassionate leaders.
