Welcome back to school Bearcats!
We are so excited to see everyone again this school year. Our word of the month for July/August is “Responsibility”. We are reminding students that responsibility means being dependable and accountable for your words and actions. Responsibility is also doing your best and never blaming others for your mistakes.
When you show that you are dependable, you show responsibility. When you tell someone you will do something, that person is counting on you to “pull your weight”. When you do a good job and finish on time, you are showing that you are responsible. A responsible person always does his best, and does not blame others for his mistakes.
You also show responsibility by the choices you make. Every day, you make many decisions which affect your life. Some choices are small, such as choosing what to wear to school or what to eat for lunch. Some decisions, such as the way you treat others and do your chores, affect other people. When you make appropriate choices, you are showing others you are responsible.
You can be responsible by taking care of your possessions. You should take care of your school supplies, library books, and money. If you own a pet, it is counting on you to feed it, provide water, give it exercise, and keep it clean. When you do these things, you show responsibility.
We also count on other people to be responsible. Imagine what the world would be like if no one took responsibility for taking out trash or cleaning up messes. You count on others to be responsible, just as others count on you.
Be Responsible Bearcats! But most importantly…..BE KIND!
