Suggested Reading Activities for Parents

It is critically important for students to continue improving their reading skills over the summer. The Mississippi Department of Education has provided a Parent Read at Home Plan.  This plan provides activities that parents can do at home in the five components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.  The Partnership for Reading published a brochure called Put Reading First, Helping Your Child Learn to Read.
